Welding QA/QC Lead – Major LNG Project

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Welding QA/QC Lead to join a world‑class LNG development project in Mozambique. Reporting to the QA/QC Manager, you will be the focal point for all welding‑related quality activities, ensuring compliance with project specifications, international codes and best practices across a large‑scale EPC environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage all welding QA/QC activities throughout the project.
• Monitor contractor and subcontractor welding performance and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with ASME, AWS and project‑specific welding standards.
• Review and approve WPS, PQR, WQR, ITPs and related quality documentation.
• Oversee welder qualification testing and certification programmes.
• Manage NDT programmes and support resolution of non‑conformances.
• Coordinate with construction, mechanical, piping and inspection teams to achieve quality objectives.
• Promote a strong safety and quality culture on site.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical, Welding Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 15 years of welding QA/QC experience, with at least 8 years in a lead or supervisory role.
• Proven experience on LNG, oil & gas, petrochemical, refinery or major EPC projects.
• AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or equivalent certification.
• Demonstrated ability to manage teams of welding inspectors on large construction projects.
