Farming System Lead

About the role

The Farming System Lead will provide strategic guidance to field technicians and village‑based agents within the Beira Corridor food and nutrition security program. This position supports small‑scale producers by identifying gaps, designing interventions, and ensuring the delivery of technical assistance across selected farming systems.

Key responsibilities

• Assess stakeholder needs and develop training materials for diverse farming systems.
• Map and engage community‑based private‑sector actors for sustainable business linkages.
• Design work plans, technical tools, and procurement plans aligned with project objectives.
• Oversee all technical activities, supervise field technicians and consultants, and transition them into independent agripreneurs.
• Coordinate farmer classification and registration for SSFP cohorts.
• Manage institutional relations with implementation partners and local government authorities.
• Monitor grant‑funded interventions and contribute to data‑driven program adjustments.

Required profile

• Proven experience in agricultural development or related field.
• Strong understanding of small‑scale farming systems and value chains.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and work with diverse stakeholders.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.

Required skills

• Expert knowledge of one or more crop groups.
• Experience in designing work plans and technical tools.
• Procurement planning and technical query support.
• Stakeholder mapping and partnership development.
