Advisor Social Cohesion, Peacebuilding and Security Risk Management

About the role

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) is seeking an Advisor to strengthen social cohesion, peacebuilding and security risk management in northern Mozambique. The position is based in Pemba, Cabo Delgado and supports the Nexus Norte II project, which aims to improve living conditions for forcibly displaced persons and host communities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical advice on social cohesion and peacebuilding approaches to project and sector teams, as well as implementing partners.
• Develop and operationalise concepts, strategies and outputs related to peaceful coexistence in Cabo Delgado.
• Prepare, implement and monitor activities under Output 3, including drafting Terms of Reference for research and service contracts.
• Plan, organise and follow‑up on workshops, trainings and other capacity‑building events.
• Conduct regular analyses of conflict dynamics and assess implications for project implementation.
• Coordinate with relevant partners, GIZ sector teams and other projects to align actions along the Humanitarian‑Development‑Peace (HDP) Nexus.
• Support monitoring, reporting and donor communication.

Required profile

• Proven expertise in social cohesion, peacebuilding and security risk management, preferably in a humanitarian or development context.
• Experience developing concepts, strategies and operational plans.
• Ability to draft TORs, manage consultants and monitor service contracts.
• Strong facilitation skills for workshops and trainings.
• Capacity to analyse conflict trends and translate findings into project actions.
• Excellent coordination and stakeholder‑engagement abilities.
