Chief Financial Officer (CFO) / Head of Finance

About the role

The client is a leading international freight forwarding, clearing, logistics and supply chain organisation seeking a senior finance leader for its Mozambique operations. The CFO/Head of Finance will own the full finance function, driving financial performance, governance and strategic direction.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the finance function for Mozambique, providing strategic financial leadership.
• Manage budgeting, forecasting, financial planning and analysis.
• Oversee monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting.
• Control cash flow, treasury, banking relationships and working capital.
• Ensure compliance with local tax, statutory, regulatory and corporate governance requirements.
• Drive financial controls, risk management and audit processes.
• Analyse business performance and advise on profitability improvements.
• Support commercial decisions, pricing strategies and contract evaluations.
• Collaborate with Operations, Sales, Customs, Freight Forwarding and Clearing teams.
• Lead and develop the finance team and manage external relationships with auditors, banks and insurers.
• Assist with acquisitions, expansion projects and investment evaluations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce or related field.
• Professional qualification such as CA(SA), ACCA, CIMA or CPA preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of finance experience, including at least 5 years in a senior finance leadership role.
• Strong background in freight forwarding, logistics, shipping or related sectors.
• Fluent English; Portuguese advantageous.
• Willingness to be based in Mozambique.
