Child Health Technical Officer

About the role

The Child Health Technical Officer will support the Senior Technical Officer in planning and implementing clinical activities across health facilities and communities in Zambezia. The role focuses on strengthening maternal and child health services through training, supervision, and quality monitoring.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a training and adoption strategy to build district and facility staff capacity in maternal and child health standards.
• Monitor clinical indicators for community‑based pediatric care and ensure activities follow standard operating procedures.
• Collaborate with provincial and district government staff to coordinate service‑strengthening activities and participate in technical working groups.
• Contribute to work plans, quarterly and annual reports, and financial reporting required by the U.S. Department of State.

Required profile

• Medical doctor or senior nurse with public‑health training.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in clinical care and public‑health, including maternal and child health programs.
• Fluency in Portuguese; basic English communication preferred.
• Proven ability to work with government personnel and community stakeholders.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and SharePoint.
• Data analysis and reporting skills for clinical indicators.
• Experience using virtual collaboration tools such as Zoom or Teams.
• Strong organizational and analytical abilities.
