Technical Advisor – Maternal, Neonatal & Child Health (MNCH)

About the role

The Technical Advisor will lead the implementation and monitoring of Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health (MNCH) interventions for the EpiC MNCH+N project in Zambezia, Mozambique. Based in Quelimane, the role supports government and partner efforts to improve the quality of MNCH services in health facilities and communities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise and supervision for MNCH service‑quality interventions at both facility and community levels.
• Collaborate with provincial and district government counterparts to build capacity for clinical supervision using approved standards and tools.
• Supervise a team of MNCH Senior Technical Officers and QI Technical Officers, ensuring proper delegation and coordination with local authorities.
• Act as the primary liaison for provincial MNCH technical working groups, representing the project and facilitating communication.
• Analyze MNCH monitoring data, synthesize findings, and recommend programmatic adjustments to the Project Technical Director and provincial leadership.
• Support the development and quality assurance of training initiatives for community health workers and other providers.

Required profile

• Proven experience in MNCH service delivery and quality improvement in low‑resource settings.
• Demonstrated ability to work with government agencies and build supervisory capacity.
• Experience supervising technical staff and coordinating multi‑stakeholder teams.
• Strong analytical skills for interpreting health monitoring data and informing program decisions.
• Excellent communication skills in English; knowledge of Portuguese is advantageous.
