Provincial Outbreak Officer

About the role

The Provincial Outbreak Officer will provide technical leadership and operational support for outbreak preparedness, detection, and response at provincial and district levels in Zambezia Province.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and support to strengthen provincial PHEOC and IMS during outbreaks.
• Lead capacity‑building, training and simulation exercises in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, CDC and partners.
• Coordinate outbreak resource mapping, emergency stock management and rapid logistics deployment.
• Support surge capacity planning, isolation site activation and real‑time outbreak response.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of public health emergency preparedness, IDSR and PHEOC operations.
• Experience in outbreak investigation, rapid response coordination and incident management at provincial or district level.
• Familiarity with infection prevention and control (IPC) principles during health emergencies.
• Ability to analyze outbreak data and produce situation updates, line lists and epidemic curves using Excel.
