Communications and Marketing Officer

About the role

The Communications and Marketing Officer will design and implement communication and marketing strategies that raise the visibility of IUCN’s water programme in Mozambique. The role ensures brand consistency, supports partners, and drives stakeholder engagement across digital and offline channels.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute detailed communication and marketing work plans aligned with the Mozambique Country Office Strategy and IUCN global guidelines.
• Lead creation, editing and production of knowledge and marketing products, ensuring they reflect programme achievements and adhere to IUCN style guides.
• Manage content for websites and social media, keeping it engaging, up‑to‑date and strategically aligned.
• Coordinate events, promotional materials and digital campaigns to increase programme participation.
• Maintain media relations, distribute press releases and secure positive coverage of initiatives.
• Support partners in enhancing their communication approaches and facilitate collaboration with donors, communities and the private sector.
• Oversee procurement of communication equipment and act as liaison for knowledge‑management matters across units.

Required profile

• University degree in communications, marketing, journalism, PR or a related field.
• 7‑10 years of professional experience in communications, marketing, event management or campaign implementation, with a strong portfolio of work.
• Proven ability to produce high‑impact content, write and edit with excellent attention to detail.
• Experience working in multicultural environments and, preferably, in Mozambique.
• Fluency in English and Portuguese (both written and spoken); knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
