Emergency Doctor – Remote Industrial Project in Mozambique

About the role

International SOS is seeking an experienced Emergency Doctor to lead emergency medical care for a large remote industrial project in Afungi, Northern Mozambique. The role blends emergency department practice, pre‑hospital response, remote‑site medicine, and medical evacuation coordination within a robust clinical governance framework.

Key responsibilities

• Manage acute medical and trauma emergencies for a diverse workforce.
• Provide 24/7 on‑call emergency support and lead response teams.
• Coordinate medical evacuations (MEDEVAC) and patient transfers.
• Support clinical governance, incident review, and quality assurance programs.
• Deliver education and simulation‑based training for onsite healthcare personnel.
• Mentor multidisciplinary teams and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Medical degree with full registration in the country of origin.
• Minimum 5 years post‑graduate clinical experience, primarily in emergency medicine.
• Current practice in an Emergency Department and ability to continue ER practice during off‑rotations.
• Strong background in rural, remote, or pre‑hospital medicine is preferred.
• Ability to work in a dynamic, resource‑limited environment.

Required skills

• Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
• Trauma care qualifications.
• Expertise in emergency medicine and pre‑hospital care.
