Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Specialist

About the role

Jhpiego Mozambique is seeking a highly qualified Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Specialist to provide technical leadership and expertise in preventing, mitigating, and responding to GBV, including Sexual Exploitation and Abuse, Sexual Harassment, and Violence Against Children. The role will support the design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of survivor‑centred interventions across the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance on GBV prevention, risk mitigation, and response throughout the project.
• Lead development and implementation of GBV, SEA/SH, and safeguarding strategies, action plans, and protocols.
• Support establishment and strengthening of referral pathways and coordination mechanisms for survivors.
• Oversee case management, psychosocial support, and counselling services for GBV and VAC survivors.
• Conduct assessments to identify GBV risks, vulnerabilities, and service gaps.
• Design and deliver training, capacity‑building, and awareness‑raising activities for staff, government partners, and community structures.
• Develop training materials, guidelines, and tools on gender, protection, and safeguarding.
• Facilitate community mobilization and advocacy to promote gender equality and child protection.
• Collaborate with government agencies, NGOs, and community groups to strengthen GBV systems.
• Provide technical input for reports, studies, and policy recommendations.
• Monitor and evaluate GBV activities to ensure compliance with donor, national, and international standards.

Required profile

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Social Sciences, Anthropology, Health Sciences, or related field.
• Relevant professional experience in GBV prevention, response, and protection programming.
• Demonstrated ability to work with government, civil society, and community stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of survivor‑centred approaches and international best practices.
