Protection Officer – Child Protection (Fixed‑Term)

About the role

The Protection Officer will lead the implementation and monitoring of child protection programmes in humanitarian settings, ensuring compliance with recognised standards and delivering high‑quality support to community partners.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver timely implementation tasks, including capacity building, training and coaching of community partners and Child Protection structures.
• Provide technical oversight during emergency responses, ensuring activities meet SPHERE, Inter‑Agency Case Management and Minimum Child Protection standards.
• Conduct monthly field monitoring visits to assess quality, adherence to standards and effectiveness of interventions.
• Undertake beneficiary monitoring to evaluate knowledge retention, behaviour change and use of protection services.
• Prepare analytical monitoring reports for the Protection Manager and develop corrective action plans.
• Design, deliver and evaluate training packages on PSEA, GBV prevention and response, and protection mainstreaming.
• Develop gender‑responsive, protection‑focused programmes in disaster contexts.
• Strengthen referral pathways with police and women‑and‑children victim services.
• Assess partner capacities and deliver tailored technical capacity‑building interventions.

Required profile

• Proven experience in child protection and humanitarian programme implementation.
• Strong knowledge of SPHERE standards, Inter‑Agency Guidelines for Case Management and Minimum Standards for Child Protection.
• Ability to conduct field monitoring, produce analytical reports and provide technical mentorship.
• Experience designing and delivering training on PSEA, GBV and gender‑responsive protection.
• Excellent coordination skills with local authorities and referral networks.
