Regional Malaria Advisor – Southern & East Africa

About the role

PATH’s Malaria Control and Elimination Partnership in Africa (MACEPA) is seeking a Regional Malaria Advisor to lead technical and management activities across Southern and East Africa. Based in Maputo, the advisor will coordinate with country leads in Zambia, Ethiopia, Malawi, Nigeria and other geographies to strengthen malaria surveillance, data quality, and community case management.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with country and regional technical staff to design and implement evidence‑based malaria strategies.
• Support development and execution of annual work plans, learning agendas, and monitoring frameworks.
• Assess progress against donor commitments, identify bottlenecks, and propose corrective actions.
• Provide day‑to‑day matrix management of country leads, ensuring timely technical implementation.
• Oversee quality of strategic documents, guidelines, reports, and communications.
• Lead the cross‑portfolio surveillance and monitoring learning agenda for the MNTDs division.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in malaria control, surveillance, and data management.
• Strong analytical, writing, and communication abilities.
• Proven management and coordination skills in multi‑country settings.
• Motivated, proactive, and able to work independently and within a matrixed team.
