Remote Medical Coder – Hospital Coding Specialist

About the role

We are looking for a meticulous Remote Medical Coder to join our dynamic healthcare team. The successful candidate will apply US or UK coding standards to complex patient records, ensuring accurate reimbursement and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Review and analyze inpatient and outpatient medical records, assigning appropriate ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, OPCS-4, or SNOMED CT codes.
• Ensure coding accuracy and compliance with federal, state, NHS, and payer guidelines.
• Identify documentation gaps, query clinicians, and resolve coding errors to prevent claim denials.
• Maintain data integrity through regular audits and stay current with coding guideline updates.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of hospital medical coding experience (inpatient or outpatient) in the US or UK.
• Active certification from AAPC or AHIMA (e.g., CPC, CCS, CIC, COC) or equivalent UK certification.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
• Reliable computer (Windows 10/11 or macOS 12+), high‑speed internet, and a verified backup power supply.

Required skills

• ICD‑10‑CM, CPT, HCPCS coding standards.
• OPCS‑4 and SNOMED CT coding standards.
• Experience with EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, EMIS Web, and SystmOne.
