Budget Transparency & Community Engagement Internship (Nampula/Zambezia)

About the role

UNICEF Mozambique is looking for two interns to support budget transparency, school accountability and community engagement in the provinces of Nampula and Zambezia. Working under the supervision of the Social Policy Officer, the interns will gain hands‑on experience in public financial management and education service delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in developing citizen‑friendly versions of planning and budgeting documents to improve public understanding of public expenditure and education financing.
• Support the design of simplified communication materials that explain resources allocated to schools and expected results.
• Contribute to the creation of public information templates, school transparency boards and disclosure tools for schools and local authorities.
• Help document good practices and lessons learned on budget transparency initiatives.
• Support the development and testing of school‑level accountability and transparency tools.
• Assist in collecting and analysing information on transparency practices adopted by schools and School Councils.
• Engage with School Councils, Parent Associations and community representatives to gather perspectives on transparency and service delivery.
• Support awareness‑raising activities aimed at strengthening community participation.
