Deputy Representative – UNFPA, Maputo (P-5)

About the role

The Deputy Representative supports the UNFPA Representative in leading the design, delivery and day‑to‑day management of the UNFPA country programme in Mozambique. The role focuses on building partnerships, advancing the 2030 Agenda and ensuring effective implementation of the ICPD Programme of Action.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development and management of an innovative Country Programme of Cooperation on population and development.
• Supervise assigned Country Office staff and oversee daily operations.
• Build and maintain alliances with government, UN agencies, bilateral donors, civil society, academia and the private sector.
• Promote integration of sexual and reproductive health and rights into the national development agenda.
• Drive external relations, communications, partnership‑building and resource mobilisation.
• Ensure transparent and accountable management of programme resources.

Required profile

• Demonstrated senior‑level experience in international development, population, or reproductive health programmes.
• Strong commitment to UN values, human rights and gender equality.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and to secure resources.
• Excellent leadership, strategic thinking and results‑orientation.
