District Technical Officer – Global Health Security

About the role

The District Technical Officer will provide technical support and guidance to district health authorities, health facilities and community structures for the implementation of Global Health Security activities under the EpiC‑GHS project.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support for disease surveillance, outbreak preparedness, infection prevention and control, and health emergency management at district level.
• Assist SDSMAS, district health teams and health facilities to improve detection, notification, reporting and response to health events.
• Support data quality, routine review, analysis and use of surveillance information to identify trends and gaps.
• Mentor and coach district and facility staff, and contribute to training and capacity‑building activities.
• Participate in government meetings, prepare technical inputs for reports and ensure compliance with SOPs and project guidelines.

Required profile

• Basic knowledge of disease surveillance, outbreak response and infection prevention and control.
• Familiarity with Mozambique’s health system and experience working with district health structures preferred.
• Ability to collect, analyse and present health data.
• Strong communication skills in Portuguese and English.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
