District Technical Officer – Global Health Security

About the role

FHI 360 is hiring two District Technical Officers to support the EpiC Global Health Security project in Cahora Bassa and Moatize, Mozambique. The role provides technical assistance to district health authorities, facilities and community structures to strengthen disease surveillance, outbreak preparedness and response.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support for disease surveillance, event‑based surveillance, case detection, notification, reporting and outbreak response at district level.
• Assist SDSMAS, district health teams and health facilities to improve data quality, timeliness and use for GHS activities.
• Conduct routine data review, analysis and reporting, and contribute lessons learned and best practices.
• Identify technical capacity gaps and support training, mentorship and supervision of district staff.
• Participate in government meetings, prepare technical inputs for reports and maintain relationships with provincial and national health authorities.

Required profile

• Basic working knowledge of disease surveillance, outbreak preparedness and response, infection prevention and control, and health emergency management.
• Familiarity with Mozambique’s health system and experience working with district‑level government health structures is preferred.
• Ability to collect, analyse, interpret and present health and program data.
• Professional communication skills in Portuguese; additional local languages are an advantage.
