Provincial Technical Officer – WASH

About the role

The Provincial Technical Officer – WASH provides operational and technical leadership for WASH activities in Tete Province under the EpiC Global Health Security Project. Based in Tete, the role links national WASH leadership, provincial health authorities, district teams, health facilities and community partners.

Key responsibilities

• Lead day‑to‑day coordination and implementation of WASH activities, translating national priorities into provincial plans.
• Provide technical guidance to District WASH Technical Officers and ensure consistent, quality WASH support across districts and facilities.
• Support capacity‑strengthening, on‑the‑job training and supportive supervision for health facility staff and community partners.
• Conduct resource mapping, readiness assessments and develop improvement plans for outbreak preparedness.
• Manage emergency stock, forecasting and pre‑positioning of WASH commodities.
• Coordinate rapid WASH response during outbreaks and public health emergencies.

Required profile

• Experience in WASH implementation within health facilities, preferably in low‑resource settings.
• Demonstrated ability to work with government health authorities, NGOs and multi‑disciplinary teams.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills to identify bottlenecks and develop solutions.
