Senior Structural Engineer - Mozambique LNG Project

About the role

McDermott International is hiring a Senior Structural Engineer for its Field Engineering team on the Mozambique LNG project in Maputo. The engineer acts as a lead in the structural discipline, sharing conceptual and practical expertise with the team and providing solutions and mitigation plans for complex problems. The team supports construction, ensures materials and drawings reach site on schedule, and serves as the link between site and the home office.

Key responsibilities

• Perform site design changes during construction, including red-line mark-ups on as-built drawings, in close coordination with the home office.
• Support QA/QC groups on non-conformance issues and dispositions, and help close NCRs.
• Help interpret drawings and specifications so facilities are built to contract requirements.
• Coordinate and validate field design changes, maintain the master copy of engineering documentation, and prepare formal revisions.
• Review IFC document changes and subcontractor documentation, and close engineering documentation with the lead office.
• Support the field engineering manager through project stages, including design queries, purchase order status and technical clarifications.
• Lead technical meetings, issue minutes, and take the lead on installation documentation, procurement and fabrication materials.
• Review 3D models with the owner team, coordinate tie-in points during shutdown, and track over-shortage materials.
• Emit a monthly engineering report covering progress, material feasibility and site criticalities.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering.
• 10-15 years of experience in the oil and gas industry with major contractors or consultants.
• At least two to three years of operations and field engineering experience.

Required skills

• Thorough knowledge of Excel and familiarity with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and AutoCAD.
• Experience in project scheduling and with subcontract activities.
