Team Leader – Urban Waste Management Project

About the role

The Team Leader will act as the senior technical and managerial authority for the supervision consultancy on the Maputo Urban Transformation Project. This role serves as the Employer’s Representative, overseeing design‑build services for two major solid‑waste facilities and ensuring compliance with World Bank safeguards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate all engineering, environmental, social and safety supervision activities throughout design, construction and commissioning.
• Manage contract administration functions, including performance monitoring, reporting and compliance verification.
• Provide technical guidance and training to the client’s engineering staff.
• Oversee multidisciplinary teams to ensure quality and adherence to Employer’s Requirements.
• Monitor contractor performance and address any non‑conformities.

Required profile

• Extensive experience (10+ years) in civil/environmental engineering consultancy, preferably on World Bank‑funded projects.
• Proven track record of leading multidisciplinary teams in design‑build environments.
• Strong knowledge of solid‑waste infrastructure, landfill and transfer station design.
• Ability to work on‑site in Maputo for the duration of the 12‑month input period.
