Technical Officer – Early Childhood Development (ECD)

About the role

FHI 360 is seeking a Technical Officer to lead the integration of Early Childhood Development (ECD) interventions into Mozambique’s primary health‑care system. Based in Nampula City, the role supports the delivery of nurturing‑care services across maternal, newborn and child health, nutrition, and immunisation platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Support day‑to‑day implementation of ECD activities in project districts, facilities and communities.
• Develop and adapt technical tools, job aids, training materials and learning products for ECD integration.
• Provide capacity‑building to government stakeholders to sustain evidence‑based ECD interventions.
• Collaborate with FHI 360 technical teams to embed ECD approaches into antenatal, postnatal, immunisation, child health and nutrition services.
• Implement caregiver‑focused interventions that promote responsive caregiving, early stimulation, father engagement and support for adolescent mothers.
• Strengthen linkages between health, nutrition, WASH and community platforms.
• Ensure activities align with MISAU guidance, project workplans and global best practices.
• Participate in technical working groups, stakeholder meetings and coordination platforms related to child health and ECD.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in early childhood development, public health or related fields.
• Demonstrated ability to work with government health authorities and community partners.
• Strong understanding of integrated health‑service delivery and capacity‑strengthening approaches.
• Based in Nampula City or willing to relocate.
